The Show…
The inspiration behind Bora Aksu SS13 collection was taken from Marie, the Queen of Romania in the early 20th century; a romantic yet modern queen.

Aksu created a collection that fused the Romanian Queen’s love of art and botanical gardens to create a print central to almost every garment.

Chrysostomos chose a hair design that was textured and gypsy-like, with fish plait braiding with softly brushed and backcombed curls and to honour Marie’s regal status, a crochet crown’ was added.

“I wanted a finish to ooze a mix of romantic and modern, a bit prudish and a bit sexy. I didn’t want any one hairstyle to look the same,” said Chrysostomos.

The hair thoroughly complemented the colour palette of the clothes. Yellow, pale corals and purples, adding to the regal feel and reminiscent not only of her love of life, but also of the gardens she loved so well. Flashes of purples throughout gave the collection its royal bloodline.

Chrysostomos had a team of 22 assisting him and the show was sponsored by Hair Brand KMS California UK. The KMS products we used for the style included FREESHAPE hot flex spray, HAIRPLAY molding paste, HAIRPLAY makeover spray, HAIRPLAY clay crème, ADDVOLUME styling foam, HAIRSTAY medium hold spray, HAIRSTAY maximum spray and SILKSHEEN styling creme

GET THE LOOK - MAXMARA AW12 TRUNK SHOW

Here’s a look at the MaxMara AW12 Trunk Show I worked on in London this month and the breakdown of the makeup application we used inspired by their AW12 Show in Milan.

MaxMara Catwalk AW12 Show – Milan

MaxMara Catwalk AW12 Makeup Look
Key Artist for MaxMara's Milan Show: Tom Pecheux for MAC

The Look: German flavour, think German Impressionist time, ‘Metropolis’ movie. Couture boyish brows, then break to make it a little wild.”

Our AOFM team was headed by Makeup Artist Kim Nagyos who designed the look for the trunk show and here’s the breakdown to recreate the look and the makeup we used (Georgio Armani Makeup courtesy of Kym):

We started first by concealing the eyes and defining the brows, making them quite strong but matching the shade to the models own hair colour.

Concealer: For the under eye I applied Rimmell Match Perfection 2-1 Concealer with my concealer brush but also used my fingertips to blend gently into the skin.

Brows: I used my HD Brows Palette to customise a shade to match the models own brow hair colour.

Eyes:
Using No4 Georgio Armani Eyeshadow in 'Burnt Sienna' and a blending brush we applied this all over the eye to the brow bone but keeping it to the natural eye shape avoiding creating a cat eye look. Blending the edges to soften.

Using No 36 Georgio Armani Eyeshadow in 'Cream' and a flat eyeshadow brush we pressed the shadow to the centre of the eyelid and then blended.

Using No 26 Georgio Armani Eyeshadow in 'Brown' and with a smaller brush we blended it into the socket area of the eye to define going slightly towards the inner corner.

Using our Georgio Armani Eyebrow Pencil in 'Brown' we applied the pencil quite close to the top lash line and smudged slightly with the applicator from the end of the pencil but ensuring the outer corner was a touch darker.

Using No 36 Georgio Armani Eyeshadow in 'Cream' again we used this to highlight the brow bone.

Using No 26 Georgio Armani Eyeshadow in 'Brown' again we applied this lightly under the lower lash line from the outer corner to the centre of the eye.

No Mascara was applied.

Primer: Georgio Armani Fluid Master Primer. This smoothed & matified the skin.

Face: For foundation I used Chanel Perfection Lumiere and applied this with a slightly damp makeup sponge pressing it into the skin.

Concealer:  For the Face I used MAC Studio Finish and applied by blending with my fingers.

Cheeks: We slightly contoured the cheeks then applied a light blush.

Lips: I blotted the lips with tissue paper to remove the excess Lucas Papaw I applied at the start to moisturise the lips and then applied a Nude/light Pink Georgio Armani lip wax.

The Trunk Show  AW12 Collection
Max Mara’s A/W 12 trunk show was a uniformed collection of military inspired coats, jumpsuits and beautiful dresses. The colour palette was army green and olive, classic camel, nautical stripes and brights with wool, leather and suede. The accessories included baker boy caps, black platform heels and long knee length boots.

MY SS12 SALE BUYS...

I DO love a sale so here's a little look at what I've purchased recently from the SS12 sales...

One of my favourite casual designers is Marc Jacobs diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs which was launched in 2001 and renowned for its quirky reworkings of timeless design classics.

As mentioned in my previous Blogs, I prefer to shop online and for designer sale items I tend to buy from Net-a-Porter and The Outnet.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS
Crest cotton-blend sweatshirt  Was: £165  Sale Price: £66 www.net-a-porter.com

And to go with the sweatshirt...

MARC BY MARC JACOBS
Indigo cotton-jersey leggings. Was £145  Sale Price: £50.75 www.theoutnet.com

I also decided to treat myself to a new bag!!  I've been carrying around a baby change bag for the past year and a half now and tell you the truth I'm sick of the sight of it! I really love my handbags but still needed a bag which could fit a few nappies, baby wipes and snack essentials in for my girls. I've had my eye on a Mulberry Oversized Alexa which seemed perfect to accommodate all these things.

I was lucky enough to grab one of these in the Net-a-Porter sale as soon as it went live whilst I was on holiday.  Even more it was the colour I wanted.  The colour is described as Foggy Gray with tonal dark-chrome hardware and to compliment the bag I also went for the matching purse :-)

MULBERRY
Oversized Alexa leather bag. Was £925   Sale Price £647.50 30% OFF
www.net-a-porter.com

MULBERRY
Postman's Lock Continental leather wallet.  Was £280   Sale Price £196 30% OFF
www.net-a-porter.com
Here's another picture of the bag and purse which were both waiting for me when I got home from holiday.  Definitely helped with my post holiday blues!

What's been your best sale buy this year?

CHANEL HANDBAGS UK DUTY FREE PRICES - JUNE 2012

Like so many other ladies out there I have a teeny designer BAG FETISH!.  My first designer bag was a Gucci handbag over 10 years ago, then it just escalated from there to Burberry, Balenciaga, Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs, Mulberry & many more.  This all started at a very early age but my all time favorite designer handbags are my Chanel Handbags.

My mum could clarify this when we both use to watch Dynasty back in the late 80’s and all I would talk about was “I love that bag mummy what that lady has with the Gold chain” That bag being a timeless classic Chanel.

My lovely Mum surprised me a few years ago while she was at the airport with buying me the Timeless Classic Lambskin handbag with Silver hardware .  She knew that this was my dream handbag and I absolutely adore it.  As the leather is so soft though I only use this bag for very special occasions.

When we go away we usually travel from Heathrow Airport. Terminals 3 & 4 both have a Chanel Boutique and I have since gone on to purchase another Chanel Classic bag along with some Chanel Ballet Pumps and Purse from there.

The savings I feel are great if you’re looking to invest in a Chanel Hanbag as you’re saving 20% on the price and with some of the Chanel handbag prices this can make a massive difference.

As I’m always being asked how much do you actually save and as I’ve recently visited the boutique at Heathrow Terminal 3. I managed to get some up to date prices for some of the Chanel Classic Bags for you:

Baby 2.55 Flap Bag £2,145
Small 2.55 Flap Bag £2,225
Medium 2.55 Flap Bag £2,479
Timeless Classic Small: £2,116
Timeless Classic Medium: £2,225
Timeless Classic Jumbo: £2,479
Maxi Flap Bag £2,691
Available in Caviar or Lambskin Leather
Medium Shopping Bag £933

Large Shopping Bag £1,033
Medium Bag: £1,191
Available in Black or Beige
Tote £1,333.00
Available in Black or Beige

And here's my lovely little collection...

Prices do increase each year for the bags and looking at my receipts which I always recommend you keep! there is quite a difference in price as to when I purchased them.

I hope this blog was useful and it would be great to hear what Chanel bags you own.
