As a Makeup Artist I am a huge
fan of the brand Illamasqua and I have just purchased some fantastic products
in time for the festive season which I will be sharing with you on a later
Blog.
For now though I want to tell you
a little about the Sophie Lancaster Foundation (S.O.P.H.I.E) and the items I purchased...
On 11th August 2007, 20
year-old Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were kicked, stamped
on and left unconscious – for nothing more than looking different. Sophie later
died from her injuries.
The S.O.P.H.I.E.
Lancaster Foundation was set up by Sylvia Lancaster, a youth worker and
Sophie's mother, in her memory, and is dedicated to educating young people in
our society about acceptance and tolerance towards others through interactive
youth workshops.
As a brand that promotes
the right to experiment and self-express through the way you look, Illamasqua
have continually supported the Foundation's work and remains committed to
changing attitudes towards subcultures.
Watch the film above and
find out how and where the funding for the charity goes.
To mark the 4th anniversary of Sophie's death, Illamasqua created a film in association with The S.O.P.H.I.E. Lancaster Foundation to further raise awareness and celebrate their work.
In tribute to Sophie,
Illamasqua commissioned ‘Dark Angel’ in 2009 – a short film by award-winning
French director, Fursy Teyssier, that’s a haunting rendition of Sophie’s story,
featuring the music of iconic British band, Portishead.
Please show your support and
watch the films so that the Foundation's message can continue to spread through
our society.
The two items I purchased
from Illamasqua to 'Stand up for Sophie' were a Sophie Black pencil for £13.00
and a wristband for £2.00. £3 from the Sophie Pencil purchased and all
proceeds from the wristband sales go directly to the Foundation which helps
them spread their message of tolerance and acceptance throughout our society.
